Description

INTRODUCTION

Bearings are an integral part of anything that rotates, be it your car, the bus you use for community transport, the aircraft that you travel in for vacation or on business, any industrial machine like power plant equipment or wind mills. The applications are endless.

Our specialization series on Bearing Application and Theory provides a detailed introduction the basics of bearings, basics of bearing failures, popular types of bearings and will study design concepts concerning fits and tolerances.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This course on Popular Bearing Types is designed as an introduction to professionals that wish to gain a basic knowledge of working with bearings. It is also offered as a BONUS COURSE with our specialization series on Bearing Application and Theory.

The objective of the  Bearing Application and Theory series is to help gain understanding of the basic parameters behind use of bearings, the designation, important design features, failures, lubrication and some popular bearing types. We will also offer some basic trouble shooting tips. The series covers these concepts with enough details that provide the participants of this course an introduction to working with bearings and its applications.

There are many types of bearings used in practice. We discuss a detailed definition of various types of bearings (DGBB, ACBB, SABB, NRB, CRB, TRB and SRB) in the course on Basics of Bearings. There are many other types of bearings such as Compact Aligning Roller Bearings, Hub Bearing Units, Thrust Bearings, Solid Oil Bearings and Y bearings.

This course will summarize a few popular bearing types. The purpose of this course is to introduce four types of bearings (DGBB, ACBB, TRB and SRB) that comprise almost 60% of worldwide sales of bearings. We will provide an insight to the geometry and applications of these bearings in this course. We will also offer some additional reading resources for further learning.

The Bearing Application and Theory specialization series is full of practical tips and guidance based on front-line bearing industry experience of the instructor.
