Our specialization series on Bearing Application and Theory provides a detailed introduction the basics of bearings, basics of bearing failures, popular types of bearings and will study design concepts concerning fits and tolerances.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This course on Bearing Failures is the SECOND of our specialization series on Bearing Application and Theory. It is designed as an introduction to professionals that wish to gain a basic knowledge of working with bearings.
The objective of this series is to help gain understanding of the basic parameters behind use of bearings, the designation, important design features, failures, lubrication and some popular bearing types. We will also offer some basic trouble shooting tips. The series covers these concepts with enough details that provide the participants of this course an introduction to working with bearings and its applications.
This course introduces participants to bearing failures and highlights the importance and discusses parameters causing bearing failures. Users learn the causes from photographs of actual failed bearings. They are also presented with some trouble shooting tips in the form of Do’s and Don’ts.
At the end of the course, the participants will understand the common reasons behind bearing failures and steps to avoid these. The course is designed for a basic understanding to bearing failures. After this foundation, users can understand advanced descriptions of the related ISO classification. We will also offer some additional reading resources for further learning.
